Squirrel Hunting 101

  • When: Saturday, February 10, 2024, 12:00 pm -  1:00 pm
  • Location: Chinsegut Conservation Center 23212 Lake Lindsey Rd BROOKSVILLE, Florida 34601
  • Cost: Free

On Saturday, February 10th, Chinsegut Conservation Center is hosting Squirrel Hunting 101 led by volunteer Mark Harrison. This program is intended for people of all ages who are interested in learning how to go on their first squirrel hunt. We will go over the rules and regulations surrounding squirrel hunting, then we’ll have a hands-on squirrel processing workshop. Each registered participant will have the opportunity to process a real squirrel. We do not intend for the squirrel meat derived from this workshop to be consumed, rather the focus will be on the processing and tips will be given to participants who wish to harvest and consume fresh squirrel meat at home. We are providing the squirrels (they will have been harvested prior to the program) and vinyl/nitryl gloves. We’ll also have extra knives on hand for processing the squirrels, but feel free to bring your own small hunting knife if you have one. That should be all the supplies you need. We plan to process the squirrels outdoors and it could be messy, so participants should plan to dress accordingly. Registration is limited, so sign up today!

**One squirrel will be provided to each registered participant so only register the people in your group who wish to process a squirrel. To begin the registration process, click on the register button above.
