March 2, 2024: Cracker Cowboy Day, 10 am - 4 pm
Step right up, folks! Get ready to be transported back in time. Florida's cracker cowboys had a truly remarkable way of herding cattle, using the sound from their trusty whips. Picture this: a 10-12 foot braided leather whip cracking through the air, creating a thunderous sound that could be heard for miles around. It's no wonder these cowboys earned the nickname "crackers." Intrigued? Well, join us on this unforgettable day to learn more!
Exciting Showdown/Shootout at 2 PM: A recreation of the Barber-Mizell Duel by Cowboys from Six Gun Territory at the Log House! Join us for an unforgettable shootout that will transport you to a time of daring outlaws and legendary showdowns. Witness the Barber and Mizell face off. The air will be charged with excitement as these legendary cowboys showcase their marksmanship and quick-draw abilities.
But that's not all, my friends. Prepare to be amazed by a plethora of thrilling activities and exhibitions. Ever wondered what it's like to brand a wooden plank? Well, wonder no more! We've got several branding irons for you to choose from, and for a mere $20, you can use up to three brands. Hurry, though, as supplies are limited!
Hold onto your hats, because the excitement doesn't stop there. We've got a whip cracking presentation that will have you on the edge of your seat, a blacksmith exhibition showcasing the artistry of metalwork, and a heading and heeling roping demonstration that will leave you in awe. And fear not, little ones, for we have a special treat just for you - children's roping and a petting zoo. The first 100 children to the petting zoo will get a free cowboy/cowgirl hat. (While supplies last)
But wait, there's more! Ever dreamt of channeling your inner lumberjack? Well, now's your chance! Test your skills at Molly's Hatchet, where you can try your hand at axe throwing.
For those Yellowstone TV fans, we have a selfie station for you to take photos with our cardboard cut-out of Rip Wheeler at the Train Station....Trilby Train Depot.
And if that's not enough, we've got cow camps, cowboy music by the Not Dead Yet Band in the Mabel Jordan Barn, Cowboy Poetry (very popular) with Ken Uhrig and Steve Melton, speakers ready to regale you with tales of old Florida. There will be traditional craft demonstrations, cracker cows, cracker horses that will transport you to a bygone era, mouthwatering food, samples from a local distillery, wonderful vendors, the Geared Up Band in the Gazebo and more.
