Gopher Tortoise Talk and Walk at Chinsegut Conservation Center

  • When: Wednesday, April 10, 2024, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Location: Chinsegut Conservation Center, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville, FL 34601
  • Cost: Free

Join us for a fun and educational morning celebrating gopher tortoises in honor of Florida Gopher Tortoise Day. Starting at 10am, there will be a talk and presentation given by an FWC Gopher Tortoise Biologist. After the talk (around 11am), participants are welcome to join us as we use burrow scopes to discover what’s in gopher tortoise burrows near the center. In the past we’ve seen gopher frogs, gopher tortoises, and plenty of insects, but there could be any of 300+ different species in the burrows!

This event is intended for adults and families but may not appeal to very young children due to the length and complexity of the presentation (45-50 minutes).
