Sunshine State Academy K-12 (SSA) is a flexible private school serving students in grades K–12 through a remote, parent-directed educational model (often referred to as an umbrella school). Listed in the Florida Department of Education’s Directory of Private Schools (#5624), SSA provides families with a legal private school enrollment option that satisfies Florida compulsory attendance requirements.
SSA was created to support families seeking educational flexibility while still benefiting from official school records, administrative support, and academic structure. Families maintain the freedom to choose and direct their child’s educational path while SSA provides the institutional framework and support services needed to document and maintain academic progress.
Services may include enrollment verification, official records management, report cards, transcripts, curriculum options, diploma issuance, academic documentation support, standardized testing options, graduation processing, and additional educational services based on each family’s selected needs.
Families may choose their own curriculum, use approved outside educational resources, or select online curriculum offerings available through SSA. We proudly serve diverse learners and families from a wide variety of educational backgrounds. SSA is secular and welcomes students without religious or political affiliation requirements.
Our Approach:
SSA believes education should be flexible, individualized, and responsive to each learner’s needs.
