The Inverness Cultural Heritage Council is proud to announce that it will be awarding three $1,000 scholarships to Citrus County seniors in the 2024-2025 school year!
One of the Citrus County Historical Society’s five regional councils, ICHC is a major supporter of the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum and is dedicated to bringing history, arts, and cultural programming and educational resources to the city of Inverness and surrounding areas.
ICHC has for many years sponsored Citrus County students to attend the Humanities in the Sunshine State pre-collegiate program at the University of Florida. This excellent residential program allowed students to stay on campus and experience an authentic college experience, as well as enjoy a challenging educational curriculum. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, this amazing program has been put on hold.
ICHC is still dedicated to ensuring Citrus County students have access to higher education. And they know students need the help now more than ever. For the fourth year in a row, ICHC is offering three $1000 scholarships for Citrus County high school seniors this year.
The ICHC Scholarship is for any students with the drive to succeed and who are planning to major in a history or humanities related field. Humanities graduates can transition into many diverse and rewarding careers like anthropologist, economist, geographer, historian, art curator, political scientist, survey researcher, technical writer, or lawyer.
Humanities majors include, but are not limited to:
study of languages
literature
philosophy
history
archaeology and anthropology
human geography
law and political science
social sciences
religion
the performing and visual arts
When in doubt, students are encouraged to apply. Application package must be received by ICHC by March 15, 2025. Applications can be mailed or dropped off at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum 1 Courthouse Square, Inverness, FL 34450.
