Bird Creek Park is located at the end of CR 40/Follow That Dream Trail, which winds through salt marsh and tidal creeks down to Withlacoochee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. As you follow the last 5 miles of the road, watch for Roseate Spoonbill, Wood Stork, Anhinga, Great Egrets and both species of night-heron; stop at pull-offs for better looks along the way. Scan the horizon for Bald Eagle, Osprey, and the occasional Mississippi Kite (summer). The small, scattered hardwood hammocks at the park can produce migratory songbirds during the spring and fall such as Yellow-throated Vireo, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Ovenbird, Yellow-billed Cuckoo and Yellow-breasted Chat. Several kayak put-in points (bring your own) alongside the road and at the park offer nice access to the salt marsh, the Withlacoochee River and Withlacoochee Bay. For larger boats, a ramp is provided past the park entrance at the end of CR 40.
This park and boat ramp is located at the end of Hwy 40 West in Yankeetown. It offers picnicking and a small beach for sunbathing, swimming and three pavilions with picnic tables, grills, two paved parking areas and bathroom facilities.
Located in the southern part of Yankeetown, Bird Creek Beach is a small white-sand beach with nearby coastal vegetation. This beach is a part of a Levy County-managed recreational park named Bird Creek Park. Although Bird Creek Beach does not have lifeguards, the beach and the area around it have many amenities including a boat ramp, picnic tables, grills, multiple pavilions, and restrooms. Getting to Bird Creek Beach is easy - the access road for Bird Creek Beach is present near the end of Follow That Dream Parkway (which is also known as Levy County Road 40). A parking lot is also present near this beach.
Bird Creek Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beach combing, hiking, wildlife watching, fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, boating, jet-skiing, surf-skiing, kayaking, and canoeing. Kayakers and canoeists often launch their kayaks/canoes from this beach to explore the vivid marshes present around the beach shoreline.
