We Build Brighter Futures for Children and Families. As a Children’s Advocacy Center, we keep kids safe and strengthen families through the prevention, intervention and healing of child abuse and neglect.
Pasco Kids First (PKF) was launched in 1989 as a nonprofit organization to focus on the prevention, assessment and treatment of child abuse and neglect and is an accredited member of the National Children’s Alliance with four office locations in Pasco and Hernando counties. PKF is Pasco County’s Children’s Advocacy Center and one of only twenty-eight around the state of Florida.
Pasco Kids First (PKF) offers a continuum of programs and supports to prevent, intervene and heal children, adults and families from abuse and neglect.
Prevention – We offer the renown Healthy Families program in Pasco and Hernando counties which provides expectant and new parents with parent education, safety and child development information.
Intervention – our fully accredited Children’s Advocacy Center in Pasco offers a safe, neutral, and child-friendly place for children and adolescents who have experienced abuse, neglect, or witnessed a violent crime. Before establishing the Child Advocacy Centers model, a typical child abuse victim would be interviewed an average of 9 times by different people, with different questioning styles and agendas. PKF’s Child Advocacy Center brings together all parties within the investigation to one child-friendly, neutral location so that one interview can be conducted with all relevant parties represented.
Healing and Transformation – we offer trauma treatment and healing services for children and non-offending caregivers to help rebuild self-confidence, trust, boundary setting, appropriate touch and other skills and emotional resiliency.
