This program is being held in conjunction with National Moth Week which celebrates the beauty, life cycles, and habitats of moths. “Moth-ers” of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join us to learn about, observe, and document moths at Chinsegut WEA. The program starts at the conservation center at 8:30pm with a short presentation about moths, then as the sun sets, we’ll walk down to May’s Prairie where we’ll spend time viewing and identifying moths at a special observation station. Once we’ve identified everything we can down at the prairie, we’ll head back up towards the center where we’ll visit another special observation station. The total walking distance for this program is about 0.9 miles, most of which is along our hiking trails which are unpaved, along uneven and sometimes sandy terrain. It’s recommended that participants wear long pants, a lightweight shirt, close-toed shoes appropriate for hiking, and bug spray. We’ll have bug spray available for participants to use.
