Birding with Parks - Ozello

  • When: Thursday, November 14, 2024,  8:00 am - 10:00 am
  • Location: Ozello Community Park
  • Cost: FREE

Join Citrus County Parks and Recreation for an immersive Birding with Parks experience led by Florida Naturalist and Recreation Program Specialist, Alice Mary Herden. You will have the opportunity to explore the unique and diverse habitats of multiple locations, taking guided nature walks to observe and learn about the fascinating array of bird species that call these areas home.
Our birding adventure will start at Ozello Community Park, which is located at 410 N. Pirate Point in Crystal River. We will observe Ospreys and coastal wading birds there. After that, we will head to Ozello Park, which is just 4.4 miles away at 2045 S. John Brown Drive off of West Ozello Trail. Our aim is to observe Rails and other birds that are found around the mangroves.
To ensure a great time outdoors, we suggest bringing water, snacks, and any essential items. There's a portable toilet at Ozello Community Park, and both areas have uneven limestone terrain. But don't worry—you won't have to walk too much. So, why not bring a chair, a hat, and bug spray and stay a while for some bird chat?
