At the free Wild School group events I host, I aim to continue the work I have done for almost a decade now & currently through A Wild Home, to; Cultivate Community, Celebrate Curiosity, & Nurture Wonder, with Nature. This is a family-friendly event, you are responsible for your children & their safety, & all walks of life are welcome!
10:00AM: We'll meet at the Chassahowitzka WMA parking, which is the location listed on this event. (There are bathrooms here)
10:20AM: We'll drive back to the spring together, so plan on being there by 10:20 if you need to follow the caravan to know where to go. My cell is 574-341-0229, but the attendant at the parking lot can surely advise you as well.
Need to know:
You will need to bring $6 cash (per vehicle) to pay for a day pass to use the WMA area. The cash gets deposited into the box in a provided envelope, and you retain a slip to put on your windshield. The spot to pay is at the parking lot where we will be meeting.
What's the Spring like?
It's not huge, but so unique. It is shallow (up to my chest) as you get in at the pier, & explorable around the edge by walking in the water, then it's very deep in the middle. There are great signs that explain the spring & underwater caves visually along the boardwalk- don't worry we're not doing those with the kids, but scuba divers may be! It's common to see free divers as well!
What to bring?
We're bringing lunch/snacks/water & googles- because if we haven't had torrential rains, it will be crystal clear & is soooo fun to explore! Bug spray, just in case. The 'hang out' space is limited, so try to pack light, so we have minimal stuff/more seating for those not swimming.
From the parking lot, there is a 6-10 minute walk to get to the Spring, through the forest trail & on the boardwalk.
We can't wait to dive in & enjoy with y'all!
