Calling all frog lovers! Amphibian populations throughout the world are declining. Do you want to help? If so, join the Chinsegut Conservation Center FrogWatch Chapter (FL Frog Hoppers) and become a citizen scientist! As a citizen scientist you will have the opportunity to explore your local wetlands, learn to identify local frogs and toads by their calls, and contribute data to a long-term scientific study. FrogWatch is a great way to learn about the animals in your backyard, and help scientists learn more about them too!
Join us for this free training session! (Kids 8+ are welcome to join with an adult). We will go through a detailed PowerPoint about the frogs and toads of our area, followed by a hike down to May's Prairie to listen and identify local frogs in the wild.
Monitoring through FrogWatch USA can be an enriching experience that allows individuals to connect with nature while contributing to amphibian conservation efforts.
This is a training session for you to be a FrogWatch volunteer. As a volunteer, you will be expected to monitor a wetland area near you at least once a month (for 5-10 minutes), and to input the data you record at your site into an online database.
Before attending, please complete this online training session provided by Akron Zoo. https://agility-akronzoo.coassemble.com/unlock/xJ5f0nM
This course gives you the training and tools needed to become a successful citizen scientist and guides you through the processes of collecting and entering FrogWatch USA data.
